Rugby Tours To South Africa

It's hard not to be impressed with South Africa: it's the most varied and accessible of long haul destinations.

It's only (I say 'only') a 10 hour flight and it's overnight. In the same time zone as the UK, you don't suffer jet lag, which means you can start your tour as soon as you recover from an interrupted night's sleep.

It's a wonderful place for a sports tour, but there is so much else to recommend it. Cape Town nestles underneath Table Mountain with its Huguenot settlements of the Western Cape Winelands a short drive away. It's also the place from which to explore the Garden Route, Robben Island (Nelson Mandela's prison island), and the Cape Peninsula.

For those of you who can't go to Africa without doing a safari, you are spoilt for choice: you can visit the Kruger National Park, Pilansberg Game Reserve or one of the KwaZulu Natal parks which all have the 'Big Five' and very up-market game lodges for those who want to do it in style.

If you aren't lucky enough to see all the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino) cross off the Little Five: rhino beetle, elephant shrew, buffalo weaver, ant lion, and leopard tortoise. If you don't see any of those, keep 'em peeled for Table Mountain and if you don't see that, you've obviously had a good night out.

You get pretty close to the wildlife on land, but you can get even closer to the marine life, if shark diving floats your boat. For historians, we'll organise a trip to Rorke's Drift and other famous battle fields from the Boer and Zulu Wars.

The long and short of it is: a) go to South Africa and b) we are real experts in South Africa. You'll have an amazing trip.
